چکیده

Recently, it has been proposed that the fundamental scale of quantum gravity can be close to the weak scale if there are large extra dimensions. This proposal has important phenomenological implications for processes at the TeV scale. We study the process γγ → γγ, assuming an ultraviolet cutoff M S ∼ 1 TeV for the effective gravity theory. We find that, at center of mass energies √ s ∼ 1 TeV, the contribution of gravitationally mediated scattering to the cross section is comparable to that coming from the one-loop Feynman diagrams of the Standard Model. We thus conclude that the effects of weak scale quantum gravity can be studied at the Next Linear Collider (NLC), in the photon col-lider mode. Our results suggest that, for typical proposed NLC energies and luminosities, the range 1 TeV < ∼ M S < ∼ 10 TeV can be probed.

We study the processes γ e → γ e and γγ → γγ, in the context of the proposal for Weak Scale Quantum Gravity (WSQG) with large extra dimensions. With an ultraviolet cutoff M S ∼ 1 TeV for the effective gravity theory, the cross sections obtained for these processes at the Next Linear Collider (NLC), with the eγ an γγ options, deviate from the predictions of the Standard Model significantly. Our ...

Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos and Dvali have recently proposed that gravity may become strong at energies near 1 TeV thus removing the hierarchy problem. This scenario can be tested in several ways at present and future colliders. In this paper we examine the exchange of towers of Kaluza-Klein gravitons and their influence on the production of pairs of massive gauge bosons in γγ collisions. These to...

We study Compton scattering, γ e → γ e, in the context of the recent proposal for Weak Scale Quantum Gravity (WSQG) with large extra dimensions. It is shown that, with an ultraviolet cutoff M S ∼ 1 TeV for the effective gravity theory, the cross section for this process at the Next Linear Collider (NLC) deviates from the prediction of the Standard Model significantly. It has been recently suggested by Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos and Dvali that gravity may become strong at energies not far above the electroweak scale and thus remove the hierarchy problem. Such a scenario can be tested at both present and future accelerators since towers of Kaluza-Klein gravitons and associated scalar fields now play an important phenomenological role. In this paper we examine se...
